New Life Ghana is a ministry of New Life Baptist Church, Northallerton and was set up over 20 years ago to support the work of Pastor Osmond Osei Owusu and his organisation, Rescue Aid Mission, in the greater Accra region of Ghana. Pastor Osmond grew up in Jamestown, one of the poorest areas of Accra, and has devoted his life to caring for some of the most vulnerable people in Ghana.
Supporters in the UK raise money for our partners in Ghana to use for their communities. Teams of volunteers visit Ghana often to give practical support, share expertise and build relationships.

Currently, our project is supporting the education of around 100 children, helping young adults into training or work and providing resources to alleviate poverty in the rural village of Honi.
Through New Life Ghana, 75 children are sponsored to attend Diamond Hill School, a thriving and reputable school. Sponsored children get a good quality education, uniform, a health card and a hot meal each day. As well as supporting individual children, NLG also raises money towards maintaining and providing school buildings, equipment, and minibuses - all contributing to the quality of education. Teacher wellbeing and retention is also essential to ensuring quality education so New Life Ghana supports Diamond Hill School to provide teachers with good working conditions and pay.
Our Young Adults Personal Development Fund, administrated by Pastor Osmond, ensures practical and emotional support for young people moving from Diamond Hill School to Senior High School and into employment. Many of these Young Adults were previously cared for by Osmond in The Home of Hope, a children’s home that was funded by New Life Ghana.
A Senior High School education is now funded by the Ghanaian government but there are many financial and practical barriers to attending for disadvantaged students which the YAPDF can help overcome. This fund also supports young adults transitioning to tertiary education and those who enter a trade or start a business.
Our partnership with the church in Honi Village enables spiritual and practical support to be offered to the members.
Honi is a small village about an hour’s drive from Diamond Hill School. Honi faces the many challenges that come with poverty and rurality which are now increasing as more wealthy Ghanaians buy and build on farming land. New Life Ghana and Pastor Osmond have supported the building of a church and bakery in Honi. It is hoped that community-run health and enterprise projects such as these can help the community to find a way forward.
